things to research
make sure you have researched the following:
* Laws and customs of the country you will be visiting.
* If your health insurance covers international travel, and what you need to do in case you get sick.
* What means of transportation you will be using while abroad.
Some methods will be better than others, depending on how long you will be staying and where you will be going. Figuring out which method is right for you before you go will save you a lot of time once you are there. In some cases you can purchase tickets before your trip, and have them either sent to you or left to be picked up, making things easier still. (For more information on this, see the Getting Around page in the Destination:Heidelberg section.)
* Whether or not your cell phone will work in Europe.
In order for your cell phone to work in Europe, it must be a multi-band GSM phone. If you do not have one of these, you can either buy one, rent one, or buy a pre-paid cell phone once you arrive in Europe.
Also be sure and check with your provider to see if you need to activate international service on your phone.
