Founded in 1869, the Art Association is one of the largest and oldest art organizations in Germany. One of the main focuses of the organization is to support contemporary art, and this is done in part by hosting several exhibits by international artists throughout the year. The Kunstverein also sponsors many special events, arranges tours and trips, and holds artist symposiums.
