"Christmas on Ice" at the Karlsplatz

A wonderful way to spend the day - ice skating at the base of the castle! As part of the Weihnachtsmarkt (Christmas market) in Heidelberg, the Karlsplatz has been transformed into an impressive winter wonderland with an open-air ice skating rink and a wonderful view of the most romantic ruins in Germany. Enjoy your time with family and friends skating around the rink, and then afterwards, indulge in mulled wine, cider, bratwurst or other yummy treats which can be found nearby.

Even though the skating rink is part of the Weihnachtsmarkt, it will stay open even after the market is finished for the season. Ice skating will be available from November 26 through January 4. A 90 minute sessions costs only 2.50 € for adults and 2.00 € for children, and skates can be rented for 2.60 € a pair. A coat room and place to change into your skates are also available.
